about

"Hi" as an album and concept could be looked at as an experiment into atmosphere mood and repition,
with a range of influences as varied as early Kraut rock bands all the way to Drone, Nowave, Dream pop, Shoegaze and electronic based music of the modern age,
With always a very strong sensativity to atmosphere, voice and content, even ancient classical overtones could be imagined.
This is Fabels 2nd album and is An Art rock inspired record if there has to be a genre boxed in for this creation.

Fabels: Hi (Indie)- i love bands that fearlessly carve their own path. So many people pay it lip service but almost no-one actually does it. Fabels mixture of grim alternative rocking has a brutal architecture of tight and powerful krautrock that you won't really hear elsewhere. (Chris Cobcroft) 4ZZZ .Qld

There is no one sounding like this pair and I just love the fact that they push boundaries and are creating their own sound without resorting to what's been done before. As one of the Bad Seeds said to Hugo Race in his new book - 'just dont play stuff thats been done before'.
BLUNT FANZINE

Those who have seen Fabels live or heard their previous records already knew that the Sydney duo were on to something. Now, on heir new album “Hi”, Fabels succeed in what other artists can only dream of: they create a world that has its own colours, shapes, taste, touch, language and sound. “Hi” is not about rhythm, it’s not about time - it’s almost liquid in its flowing beauty.
HINTERLANDT

Fabels make an intriguing music that owes more to art than pop as guitars meander and then soar as loops and found sounds sometimes seep in or can stab like a migraine. Ah (Rabbit Releases) is modern certainly, but overlaid on a 1928 Soviet neo-realist documentary it somehow fits. Humanity struggling with mechanisation, maybe?

about

Fabels Sydney, Australia

Watering cans and clotheslines on a sunny day, then the rain came so they went inside and started to play music. Cacophony of sounds through their brains was released into space, and their memories captured.
Pop music put in a blender with pedals looped with words.
